A remarkably rare French ormolu hanging frame set featuring four round miniature frames suspended from a delicately engraved gilt bar with original hanging chain. Each circular frame retains its original convex glass and patterned silk backings — some with visible age wear consistent with time and handling. The bar itself is finely detailed with crossed ribbon and floral motifs, typical of late 19th-century neoclassical design.
Originally intended for portrait miniatures or keepsake photographs, pieces like this were often found in elegant Parisian salons, cherished for both sentiment and decorative appeal. The rarity lies in the survival of all four frames intact and still attached to their original mount — most were long separated over the years.
