Joan of Arc is known as a French peasant girl who, guided by visions and a strong sense of divine mission, led French troops to key victories during the Hundred Years’ War, most famously lifting the siege of Orléans in 1429. Her courage and leadership helped turn the tide in favor of Charles VII’s coronation as King of France. Captured by the English and tried for heresy, she was executed at the stake in 1431, later becoming a symbol of French unity and a canonized saint of the Catholic Church.
