A beautifully preserved antique jewelry casket featuring a richly figured exterior of likely tortoiseshell or horn veneer, consistent with late 19th-century European examples. The surface displays the depth, translucency, and laminated striations characteristic of organic materials used during the period, finished with subtle banded detailing and a decorative brass escutcheon centered on the lid.
The interior is fully lined in vibrant red velvet, offering a striking contrast to the warm, mottled exterior. The box opens to a generous interior cavity, originally intended for jewelry and personal effects, and now equally suited for keepsakes, desk accessories, or as a sculptural accent on a shelf or dresser.
Carefully constructed and thoughtfully proportioned, this piece reflects a time when even utilitarian objects were designed with intention, material richness, and beauty in mind.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
