A richly grained French burl wood game box with brass stringing and escutcheon, opening to reveal a vivid red interior fitted with compartments and original gaming pieces. The craftsmanship and materials reflect the refined leisure culture of the 19th century—when such boxes were a centerpiece of social play in elegant salons. The lock mechanism is no longer present, and the brass inlay shows natural lift along one edge, adding to its storied charm and authenticity.
Appropriate wear consistent with age. Brass inlay lifting slightly along the edge, and original lock plate missing. Interior compartments remain intact with expected surface wear to the red finish.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
