A beautifully timeworn 19th century French confit pot, sourced stateside and chosen for its authentic provincial character.
Originally used in French kitchens to preserve meats beneath a layer of fat, these vessels were crafted from thick earthenware and partially glazed at the rim to seal in freshness. The upper glaze catches the light with rich caramel and olive tones, while the raw clay body below has aged into the soft, chalky patina only time can create.
This example features twin side handles, a substantial rolled lip, and organic glaze drips cascading down the body — the kind of imperfect detailing that tells you it was truly hand-thrown and wood-fired.
It is exceptionally heavy and grounding — the kind of piece that anchors a shelf, kitchen island, or console effortlessly. Style it with branches (as shown), or let it stand alone as sculptural pottery with presence.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
