A charming framed sheet of animal studies from the atelier of Henry Sené (1889-1961), a French 20th-century artist known for expressive studies and works on paper. The piece features loose graphite sketches of lambs, each captured with quick, confident movement rather than heavy detail. The lower right bears the blue oval “Henry Atelier Séné” stamp, indicating the work came from the artist’s studio or estate atelier.
The composition has that beautiful working-studio quality — not overly polished, but full of life and observation. The animals feel sketched from movement, with just a few lines suggesting posture, gesture, and character. It is framed in a blue and gilt-toned frame that adds warmth and a collected French countryside feel.
A lovely piece for a kitchen, hallway, study, child’s room, or layered gallery wall, especially for anyone drawn to pastoral French pieces, animal studies, or artist’s atelier works.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related toning to the paper, scattered foxing/discoloration, light surface wear, and wear to the frame including chips, rubbing, and gilt loss. Framed as found.
