A beautifully cast 19th-century French bronze devotional plaque depicting the Madonna and Child surrounded by radiating sunbursts — a design often associated with Marian imagery from the late 1800s. The form and texture suggest it was cast using the sand-casting method, leaving a subtly uneven, hand-finished surface that enhances its sculptural depth. Its arched shape mirrors architectural niches found in churches and private chapels, where similar bronzes were once displayed as personal icons or mounted above writing desks and altars.
Though unsigned, the work is characteristic of Parisian foundries active in the Belle Époque, when artists and metalworkers produced small-scale bronzes and religious reliefs inspired by medieval and Renaissance art. The natural patina, built over time, adds warmth and authenticity to its presence.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
