A wonderfully atmospheric mid-century French cityscape depicting Nogent-sur-Marne, just outside Paris. Painted in January 1950 and titled by the artist “Banlieue Grise,” or “Grey Suburb,” the scene looks across tiled rooftops, quiet streets, and colorful neighborhood façades beneath a pale winter sky.
Signed in the lower right by Claude Héron, with the artist’s name, address, location, title, and date handwritten on the reverse. The soft, slightly muted palette is punctuated by red rooftops and blue storefronts, giving the painting an especially charming, lived-in quality.
Presented beneath glass in its original painted wooden frame, showing scattered wear, losses, and surface patina consistent with age. The paper backing is heavily worn, torn, and water-stained, as photographed. Despite the fragile backing, the artwork displays beautifully from the front.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
