French Walnut Buffet with Carved Garland Doors

A beautifully proportioned late 19th–early 20th century French buffet, crafted in warm-toned walnut and elevated by delicate carved garland motifs across each door panel. The piece reflects a Louis XVI–influenced revival style, with clean symmetry, refined detailing, and restrained ornamentation that feels timeless rather than ornate.

The buffet features a substantial rectangular top, two upper drawers, and double cabinet doors opening to a shelved interior for generous storage. The drawers retain their original brass pulls, and the cabinet stands on tapered legs, lending it a light, architectural stance despite its solid construction.

Inside, the shelves show honest wear consistent with age and use — a detail we love, as it speaks to a life well lived rather than restoration for show.

Stamped to the interior with its original French maker’s mark “S & F,” set within a diamond cartouche, a workshop stamp used by French furniture manufacturers in the late 19th century. This mark confirms French origin and pre-war production, typical of well-made domestic furnishings from the turn of the century.
