A wonderful French oak and brass champagne cooler by Géraud Lafitte, marked “Meilleur Ouvrier de France 1933.” This prestigious French distinction translates to “Best Craftsman of France,” and was awarded to master artisans recognized for exceptional skill in their craft.
The cooler is crafted with a warm oak body, polished brass bands, rivet detailing, and a brass ring accent, giving it a classic French Art Deco entertaining presence. Similar examples are often associated with French champagne service and are sometimes described as having been made for Champagne George Goulet of Reims.
Beautifully decorative and functional in form, this piece would be stunning styled on a bar cart, dining table, kitchen island, or open shelving with florals, bottles, greenery, or rolled linens. A special French entertaining piece with strong craftsmanship appeal, age, patina, and presence.
