A soft original French landscape drawing on paper, rendered in pastel with graphite or charcoal linework. The scene has a quiet, atmospheric quality, with bare trees, still water, low fields, and muted blue, gray, and warm rose tones that feel almost like evening light settling over the landscape.
The work has a loose, expressive hand — more of an artist’s study than a highly finished piece — which gives it that lovely collected French feeling. Framed under glass with a wide cream mat and warm gilt-toned frame, it would be beautiful in a hallway, bedroom, study, powder bath, or layered into a gallery wall with other works on paper.
The back bears a faint handwritten notation that appears to read something close to “Launigue,” “Larmigue,” or “Larrique,” though the script is too faint to confidently confirm. It may be an artist name, location, or title.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related toning, soft smudging consistent with pastel/charcoal, light surface marks, and wear to the frame including small chips, rubbing, scratches, and finish loss. Backing shows age and a small tear/puncture.
Estimated age: likely early to mid-20th century.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
