A sweet original horse study, rendered in pencil or graphite on a warm, textured paper with soft rust-colored markings in the background. The horse is sketched with a loose, observant hand, with simple linework capturing the posture, tail, legs, and lowered head.
The background paper is especially interesting — it appears to have an older printed, rubbed, or possibly sanguine/chalk-like surface beneath the drawing, giving the piece more warmth and depth than a simple white-paper sketch. The work is initialed by the artist near the lower right, though the initials are not fully clear.
Framed under glass with a wide mat and slim gilt-toned frame, this piece has a quiet equestrian feel and would be lovely in a study, hallway, bedroom, child’s room, tack room-inspired space, or layered gallery wall.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related toning, light surface marks, and natural irregularity to the paper/background. Frame shows light wear consistent with age. Framed as found behind glass.
