An elegant antique oval gilt bronze tabletop frame, richly cast with openwork scrolls and foliate detailing. Designed to stand on a surface, the frame features its original easel back and displays beautifully from all angles.
Inside is an original French document with handwritten script, ink stamps, and embossed markings, adding depth, texture, and quiet intrigue. The gilded bronze has developed a warm, time-earned patina, with surface wear consistent with age that only enhances its character.
This piece works effortlessly layered into a shelf, styled on a desk, or tucked into a vignette where subtle detail matters.
The original back latches are loose. At some point, small buttons were added to keep the backing intact, and they currently do their job well. The frame has been left exactly as purchased, as this charming, slightly improvised repair felt appropriate to its age and story. No further restoration has been attempted.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
If you have any questions about the condition or details of a piece, please email us in advance of your purchase as we are always happy to provide more information including detailed pictures and videos. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ask questions prior to purchasing an item. All sales are final.
