A refined French walnut commode dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, topped with its original gray marble slab. The warm walnut tone, classic proportions, and restrained detailing make this an easy, timeless piece — equally at home in a bedroom, entry, or living space.

This is a true period piece and shows honest signs of age throughout, consistent with its history and use. The drawers function smoothly and retain their original hardware. Interior drawers display age-related wear, including areas of old adhesive residue, and the interior construction reflects traditional secondary woods typical of French furniture from this era.

One side of the commode shows evidence of historic wood movement that has been professionally stabilized. The top marble presents beautifully with natural veining and surface variation expected of antique stone. Overall wear is cosmetic and does not detract from function or presence — rather, it adds to the authenticity and character of the piece.

A well-proportioned antique with substance, history, and quiet elegance — ideal for those who appreciate patina over perfection.

To ensure stability and prevent movement, discreet furniture pads have been added between the marble and wood base (visible in photos). This allows the marble to sit securely without wobble while remaining fully removable.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
