A French sterling silver devotional medal honoring St. Rita of Cascia, known as the patron saint of impossible causes. Cast in an elegant octagonal form, one side is inscribed “Ste Rita Vendeville” framed by a delicate garland of roses, a symbol long associated with the saint. The reverse depicts St. Rita in prayer before the crucifix, surrounded by the Latin invocation “Ora Pro Nobis” (“Pray for us”), enclosed within a border of stylized banners that accentuate the scene.
St. Rita of Cascia, often called the “Saint of the Impossible,” was an Italian Augustinian nun known for her deep faith, patience, and devotion to prayer. She endured a difficult marriage marked by violence and family conflict, later entering the convent after her husband’s death. She became widely venerated for her intercession in hopeless or desperate situations and for bearing a partial stigmata—a wound on her forehead said to mirror Christ’s crown of thorns. Canonized in 1900, she is honored as a patron saint of difficult causes, abused women, and peacemakers.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
