A wonderfully atmospheric Parisian cityscape depicting the Seine, a stone bridge, and the historic architecture of the Île de la Cité. The view appears to show the Pont au Change near the Conciergerie, with the bridge’s arched openings and circular medallions visible beneath a softly hazed Paris sky.
Painted in a subdued palette of ochre, grey, green, and blue, the work captures the quiet, slightly smoky character of Paris between the wars. The artist signed and dated the lower right G. Decourt, 1930.
The reverse is titled “Un Coin de Paris,” translating to “A Corner of Paris,” and retains a handwritten dedication to the artist’s mother, dated in Paris on September 20, 1930. This personal inscription gives the painting an especially lovely sense of history and provenance.
Painted in oil on canvas and presented without a frame. The canvas shows scattered surface wear, discoloration, spotting, minor paint losses, and fraying and irregularity along the outer edges, all consistent with age and visible in the photographs.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
