A striking vintage marble chess set featuring a substantial black and white stone board paired with hand-carved marble pieces in contrasting tones. The board showcases classic checker inlay with a polished black marble border, giving it both weight and architectural presence.
The pieces are beautifully sculpted in a traditional form — rounded pawns, tiered rooks, and stylized knights — carved from solid stone in deep black and creamy white marble. Each piece has natural veining and variation, adding depth and individuality to the set.
This is the kind of object that lives as beautifully styled as it does played. Perfect layered on a coffee table, library table, or styled atop a stack of art books for that collected European feel. Substantial, tactile, and timeless.
Please note: a few show visible chips at the base (shown in photos), and there are minor surface marks consistent with age and use. Overall, the set presents beautifully and remains fully functional.

All Maetiques items are considered final sale and sold in, "as-is" condition. Our items are extremely old and have had a prior life, which leads to imperfections. We will always point out major flaws, but due to the nature of our items, returns or exchanges are not accepted.
If you have any questions about the condition or details of a piece, please email us in advance of your purchase as we are always happy to provide more information including detailed pictures and videos. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ask questions prior to purchasing an item. All sales are final.
